The amount of glass depends on personal preference and desired flame appearance. General guidelines for covering a burner with 1 1/2" of glass when Lava Rock is used is shown below. Use glass on top of the lava rock to allow more oxygen to impact the flame.

To find out exactly how much glass is needed for a fireplace: Multiply the front width (inches) x depth (inches) x fill level usually 3" to 4" inches of glass. Divide that total by 231 and then multiply by 12 to get your total glass in pounds. |
